old healing modalities. Don Campbell,
Joshua Leeds, Christine Stevens, Layne Redmond, and Zacciah Blackburn
guide
us into deeper understanding and experiential relationship with sound
as a transformative,
and therapeutic tool, for personal growth, and professional
application.
New awareness of the power of sound is emerging
via scientific research and ancient practices, showing the benefits to
body,
mind, and spirit, from simple attention to our everyday sound
environment, to easy
techniques we can incorporate into our own lives for greater wellness,
as well
as specific, non-invasive therapeutic tools for helping others.
Drumming (& community building,)
intentional healing music, voice & toning, sacred chant, and
shamanic
practices take center stage in this weekend extravaganza of music and

Music, Sex & Chocolate:
Finding Balance in an Over-Stimulated World Music and sound
are essentials of life - similar to air, water, food, and the process
of inter-relating. When living a conscious life, essentials require
discernment and awareness of consequence. Music, Sex &
Chocolate is an inquiry into the intentional use of sound. Humans hear
sound from 18 weeks in utero until after the heartbeat stops. Sound,
like other essentials, is so ubiquitous that we usually take it for
granted. Many of us binge on music - using sound as sonic caffeine, as
a habitual companion. However, recent European research confirms that the constant intake of sound actually
contributes to over-stimulation of the nervous system, weakened immune
function, and diminished concentration and focus. In Music,
Sex & Chocolate, we explore auditive cognition, the craving of
sound for emotional distraction, music hunger as addiction, and the
necessity of a cultural paradigm shift in sonic awareness. The goal of this
workshop is to explore the effect of sensory over-stimulation in 21st

From the Big Bang to Harmonic Healing: Awakening the Spirit of Sound Sound has a dynamic impact on the mind, body
and spirit. By understanding the
components of sound waves and brainwaves, we can explore the powers of
music from extended tones to sophisticated compositions.
Don Campbell will guide us through the newest explorations
in research with music and sound therapies in the new HATTS project for
sound and science. He will also update us
on the twenty five hospitals that are using his "Harmonic Healthcare"
program for patients, staff and visitors in healthcare settings. Through Don's recent trip to the Antarctic,
we will learn about shifts in musical and energetic perception and
sensations while at the tip of earth's energetic fields. Exercises from
Don's newest book, Sound Spirit, will highlight this keynote. Goals: To
demonstrate and experience efficient and practical ways to use sound
and music to bring harmony and focus to the mind, body and spirit. Learning Objectives: • To articulate how music, movement and
imagery can be used to balance brainwaves, release stress and open the
mind to spiritual awareness. • To explore the spiritual roles of music
through chant, rhythm and deep listening • To show how multiple levels of listening
change mental, physical and emotional experiences. |

A Concert
with Layne Redmond with special guests Tommy Brunjes, Hollie Marron and Deb Reed The Power of the First Sound: The Rhythmic Path of Self-Transformation Join us for an evening of rhythmic meditations and breathing practices, along with chanting and humming sacred sounds to the rhythms of the frame drum -- an ancient technique for directly synchronizing the mind/body, creating conditions for psychological, physical, and spiritual healing. The first sound we hear is the pulse of our mother's blood and drumming is the musical expression of this primal truth. The frame drum is the oldest known drum traditionally played by priestesses in transformative religious rites throughout the ancient Mediterranean world. Layne will not only perform, but guide us through a multi-media presentation with mantra, breath exercises, and more. |
